I’m at the beginning of Day 2 of this large painting. Right now I’m trying to identify the vanishing point exactly.
Every painting is a puzzle. There’s always going to be a new part that takes figuring out.
I start with negative space, then lights and darks, then whatever helps the illusion.
Does the right tree look better? Hopefully that’s the right direction. The original picture’s tree is more spindly.
Adding soft white, looking at a small image for thr big picture concepts like lights n darks n shapes.
Adding naples yellow, transparent red oxide, and mars black. The black on the bottom was too soon, but I fix it all.
This is the end of week 1. I should finish next week if I work all day every day.
Fixing a lot on the left.
Fixed all parts. Now waiting for it to dry. I’ll add a gloss finish on the wet parts. I will fix the two trees on the right top and bottom. They are pretty tricky.
