I finally got the courage to paint my Grandma Sonia Preedy. This is the pose that I think shows who she was to me. I love how she is holding my sister Emma’s hand.
Three years ago, I asked my art teacher, “Is it possible to bring someone back with art?” In the process of painting her, I remembered her and noticed new things and got to express that she was the kindest most beautiful and loving grandmother ever. So yes, I highly recommend painting the person you miss when you’re ready. Just find a picture that tells a story of how you knew them/their character.
I just needed to document the color of her hair and her gentle hands. It makes me happy to know she was really happy and proud holding Emma. What a great Grandma. Love her smile. Now I know she got her smile from her Dad. Kinda sweet.
