“A reader lives a thousand lives”. -George RR Martin.
Every time I paint a person, I sorta become them. It’s like getting to be another person.
So, a painter lives in a couple hundred …faces? Help me with the wording.
Music and people are my energy for painting. I as blasting a Ray Charles CD while painting George at my gallery.
Georgia on My Mind was the last song, which inspired this painting’s title. (Hey, it’s a lot better than my initial idea which was to paint him with a drink and call it, George RR Martini.)
Tonight, I’m cooking out of the Feast of Ice and Fire cook book. It has a forward written by him, which is delightful because I’m used to his more formal writing where as this is more of his colloquialisms and endearing. He starts it, “Come closer now. No, closer than that. I have a confession to make, an embarrassing confession and I don’t want everyone to hear. Another step, yes… lean close and I’ll whisper the truth in your ear…”
Underneath the book quotes that serve as a precursor to the recipe are the referenced recipes written hundreds of years ago. It is awesome reading writing that is spelled phonetically. I highly recommend it for many reasons: the pairings, the simplicity, and the extreme care with the passion of his saga.
For this painting, I enjoyed finding who he was and his qualities that are attractive. I like him more than the feminine men I normally paint (Witcher). I could paint him forever and try to get his eyes and mouth even better, but I’m trying to work extra fast for Emerald City Comic Con.
I need to find out if I can sneak in food.
Hopefully, I make a splash and don’t get into trouble. Transformative Art, Baby!
